The 2022 Australian Grand Prix will be held at the Melbourne Grand Prix Circuit in Albert Park, Melbourne on March 12-14. This will be the first Formula One World Championship race to be held in Melbourne since 1996.
This will also mark the return of the Australian Grand Prix to the Formula One calendar after it was absent from the 2021 season.
The race will be the first of 23 rounds in the 2022 Formula One World Championship and is expected to attract a global television audience of more than 500 million people.
In addition to being a key fixture on the Formula One calendar, the Australian Grand Prix is also an important event for Melbourne and Victoria more broadly. The race injects more than $350 million into the state’s economy each year and supports around 3,500 jobs.
The Victorian Government has invested significant resources into ensuring the event remains in Melbourne until at least 2023. As part of this commitment, the State Government has provided $24 million to upgrade facilities at Albert Park ahead of the 2022 race.
These upgrades include a new pit lane entry, a new media center, and a new medical and rescue center. The upgrades will ensure that Melbourne remains a world-class destination for Formula One and other major international sporting events.
The 2022 Australian Grand Prix will be an event not to be missed. Be sure to stay up to date with all the latest news and information in the lead-up to the race.
