I’m tired of people using this as some sort of criticism for the show

After googling, I can not find a single valid source for this claim. All articles stating this are from around the same time (April 2019) and refer to one single study as a source, stating there was an “increase” in teen suicides around April 2017, which is when 13RW was released.

But the suicide rate for teenagers has been on a constant increase since 2008 and hasn’t stopped growing since. Also, I can think of a few world events that happened around 2016 to early 2017 that may have had a significant impact on teenager’s view of the world and the future. To blame the suicide rate increase on single show releasing is completely ignorant and unfair, and achieves nothing. Even today the rate is still higher than ever. I understand the show isn’t for everyone and there are a plethora of things you can criticize the show for, but I for one am really tired of the “It GloRifIEs SuiCide” rhetoric. It’s simply not true.
